The former governor of the South African Reserve Bank Tito Mboweni was announced as South Africa’s new finance minister following Nhlanhla Nene’s resignation on Tuesday.
Following the announcement, callers on the Eusebius McKaiser Show shared their thoughts on his appointment.
Palesa, a caller says as a young person she is not 100% happy with this appointment.
I feel like with the ANC government, it continues to recycle people and I feel like the President had a job summit where he talked about and was trying to address unemployment especially for young people in the country.— Palesa, caller
I think this would have been a great opportunity for him to actually bring in a young person into that post.— Palesa, caller
Khulekani, another caller, says he believes that Mboweni is a perfect person at this critical stage of the South African economy.
I believe that you need someone that is known by the markets especially at this point that the economy is at. You needed someone that the markets would favour.— Khulekani, caller
Daryll another caller says at this point there is no one that is capable of filling that portfolio.
However, the sad part is that the current EFF leadership was supposed to be the ANC future leadership and that is why I think the ANC has a leadership crisis.— Daryl, caller
