Kelly Kruger is the partner of brave firefighter, Candice Kruger. Candice, 33, who was based in Roeland Street, collapsed while fighting a fire on the slopes of Table Mountain in January.
After listening to the interview with the City's Richard Bosman, who was responding to Samwu's accusations that their members are overworked and underpaid since the Fire Service Agreement with the City lapsed in 2012, she decided to call CapeTalk.
Bosman denied Samwu's claims that their overworked members are collapsing on the job and even dying.
My wife collapsed when she put out a fire on Table Mountain. The fact that this was not mentioned by Bosman is extremely disappointing and hurtful towards Candice and her memory as well as the other firefighters.— Kelly Kruger, Widow
I am very disappointed at the City at the moment as Candice's wife. I still don't know what exactly happened and I still don't know where I stand because nobody has come to me with regards with the information of what exactly is the position because she died in the line of duty.— Kelly Kruger, Widow
Kelly says her lawyers are still struggling to get information from the City regarding Candice's estate and any form of assistance from them.
She says Candice worked long hours but she also loved her job.
