Situation calm between Reiger Park and Joe Slovo communities

Clashes broke out earlier today between the community of Reiger Park and Joe Slovo.

Ekurhuleni Police had to fire rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.

The residents of Reiger Park are accusing the Joe Slovo residents of stealing copper cables while disrupts their electricity supply.

Speaking to Joanne Joseph, Eyewitness News reporter Bonga Dlulane says police are monitoring the situation.

Things have now calmed down but police have their hands full trying to make sure things don't get out of hand.

There are undertones of racial tensions between the two sides. The other side is predominately black while the other is predominantly coloured.
