A Serbian national killed in Rivonia 'may be part of a turf war'

Police have confirmed that a man shot in an apparent attempted hit in Rivonia this week was a Serbian national.

The 49-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting near a Sasol petrol station.

He was shot twice in the arm and was then taken to the hospital.

Speaking to Xolani Gwala, New24 specialist reporter Mandy Wiener says not much information is available at this stage.

All we know is that he was at a Sasol garage in Revonia and that he was shot twice in the arm.

She adds that this just highlights what has been going on in Johannesburg in the last few months.

It really just seems to be a proxy for a turf battle between two different Serbian organisations.
