Ramaphosa sets cut-off date for plan to fix collapsing public healthcare system

Only 8.87-million South Africans (15.61% of the population) can afford medical aid.

The rest is at the mercy of a public healthcare system that has collapsed in many parts of the country.

President Cyril Ramaphosa convened a presidential health summit on the weekend.

Ramaphosa set 10 December 2018 as the deadline for creating a “presidential health summit compact” to be signed by stakeholders such as hospital companies, drug makers, medical aids, unions, activists, healthcare professionals and academics.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Dr Nicholas Burger, a Healthcare Consultant at Frost & Sullivan.
