'Compound interest is just the most fascinating, amazing thing about money'

…There’s been a few expensive mistakes along the way… We’re treading water, the money’s tight… it’s really focussed our minds…

Compound interest is just the most fascinating, amazing thing about money!

Joe Parker

Every week The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviews a famous person about her or his attitude to money (hopes and fears, successes and failures, etc.) as part of his weekly “Make Money Mondays, Personal Edition” feature.

This week Whitfield interviewed veteran comedian Joe Parker.

Parker - described as “risqué but never crude” and having a style with “cheeky defiance of all things politically correct combined with innovative, provocative storytelling” - has a career that spans three decades, including stints in the UK and Australia.

He’s also a musician and often treats his audiences to a few songs.

In 2008, Parker opened Parker's Comedy and Jive, a dedicated venue for stand-up comedy in Johannesburg.

  • What does Parker believe about money?

  • Does it keep him up at night?

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and scroll down for more quotes from it).
