[LISTEN] De Lille: I am not walking away from politics

As of seven o'clock this evening, Patricia De Lille will be the former Cape Town Mayor and DA member. She spoke to Joanne Joseph this afternoon and said: "she is tired of being in an abusive relationship with a leaderless party".

De Lille says she’s leaving the DA and she vowed to clear her name in public. The outgoing mayor says this is a dent in her career, however, it is not the end of her career.

I leave with no regret and I will hold my head high, knowing that I worked day and night to serve the people of Cape Town.

De Lille told Joanne that she is walking away from her position because her job was about principle and clearing her name. She said she is definitely not walking away from politics, she can serve the country in any capacity and she still committed to serve people of this country, ensuring that they enjoy the fruits of the democracy.
