Alleged Mihalik hitmen brought in from KZN, court hears

Two men have been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with the apparent hit on prominent defence advocate Pete Mihalik.

Sizwe Biyela and Nkosinathi Khumalo were apparently brought in from KwaZulu-Natal to assassinate Mihalik, the court has heard.

The pair briefly appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Thursday where there was a heavy police presence.

They allegedly killed Mihalik and wounded his son on Tuesday.

The incident occurred while the advocate was dropping off his children at school.

The case has been postponed until next Thursday to determine if they have fixed addresses and look into pending cases, reports EWN's Shamiela Fisher.

It seems one of the accused may be out on bail for a separate, pending murder case in another province.

Both men are being held at Sea Point police station.

The State asked for a seven-day postponement in order to ascertain whether or not these men have fixed addresses back in KZN and to tie-up any loose ends with the investigation.

They face four charges; murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
