Lentegeur residents demand permanent anti-gang unit

Mitchells Plain residents took to the streets on Sunday to demand that the anti-gang unit launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week and Saps have a permanent presence in the area.

The organiser of the protest in Lentegeur, Samsoniesa Taliep says they are protesting for a safer community within Mitchells Plain.

She says they are tired of the gun violence, gangsterism and robberies in the area.

People get robbed on their way to work, even school kids are getting robbed on their way to school.

Taliep says they haven't seen the presence of the gang unit in the area and that's what they are demanding through this protest.
