Free hearing aid for Stellenbosch attack victim Cheslin Marsh

A Stellenbosch student who was left for dead during an attack in which his friend was murdered is being gifted a hearing aid from The Ear Institute in Belville.

The brutal attack in May 2017 left Cheslin Marsh deaf in one ear, his friend Hannah Cornelius was murdered - a verdict in the case of the four men accused of the crime is due on Wednesday.

A Back-a-Buddy fundraiser was set up by Hannah's cousin, Lali van Zuydam, to raise money towards a hearing aid for Cheslin, but The Ear Institute in Bellville has offered now to donate a device free-of-charge.

Cheslin hasn't been able to study after this ordeal because of the hearing problem.

The Ear Institute says it hopes the money raised so far can instead now be put toward Cheslin's studies.
