The NPA says it took the joint effort of committed police, forensic investigators, expert witnesses and specialist prosecutors.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the recent successful prosecutions in the Western Cape are a result of collaboration.

The NPA has scored a few success in recent high-profile murder trials.

Three men were found guilty of the rape and murder of Stellenbosch student Hannah Cornelius.

Mortimer Saunders was found guilty of the rape and premeditated murder of three-year-old Courtney Pieters. Her body was found in Epping Industrial area near her home in Elsies River.

Former property mogul Jason Rohde has been convicted of killing his wife at the Spier wine farm in Stellenbosch.

The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) also rejected convicted murderer Henri van Breda’s leave to appeal his judgment and conviction.

NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says it took the joint effort of committed police officers, forensic investigators, expert witnesses and specialist prosecutors.

He adds that communities need to take a stand against crime and protect vulnerable groups amid a scourge of violence against women and children in the Western Cape.

All these successes come at the back of very painful experiences.

Sometimes we'll win some, sometimes we'll lose some.

It's about working together... to get a good result.

If we work together we will be able to win this struggle.
