New SA platform auctions used-cars online

Can you buy a quality used car without looking under the bonnet?

New online car distributor auction.co.za allows would-be buyers to do just that.

The platform offers an alternative digital marketplace for South Africans who want to buy or sell vehicles.

Co-founder Renaldo de Jager explains that auction.co.za is an ancillary venture of the 11-year-old DealersOnline brand.

He says DealersOnline currently sells about 5 500 cars a month.

He explains that experienced inspectors will drive and assess all of the vehicles that go onto the platform.

The would-be buyers then have access to the full inspector's report.

A list of identifiable defects is included so that buyers can make an informed decision, De Jager advises.

The auctions take place every day and have cut-off times for the live competitive bidding.

The bidding process is exactly the same as it would be on a live auction. The only difference is that it's online, it's anonymous and everybody can participate.

Auctions run every single day of the week.
