In the movie review, film critic Gayle Edmunds shares her views of Steven McQueen's 2018 heist film 'Widows'.

Edmunds says that Steven McQueen has outdone himself in the movie.

You are going to love it because it's absolutely brilliant adds Edmunds.

It's layered, it's intricate, it's fantastic.

Gayle Edmunds, film critic

Edmunds says that the movie is based on a 1980's mini series by criminal writer Lynda La Plante, but McQueen has reworked it into a contemporary Chicago type of setting.

Edmunds explains that in the the movie, you have these women whose husbands have been killed during a heist.

She adds that just after the funeral, Veronica (Viola Davis) gets a visit from a local criminal who tells her that her husband owes them $2 million, and she has a month to get the money.

Veronica then contacts the wives of the other husbands that were involved in the heist to map out a plan says Edmunds.

The movie beautifully links the politics of crime in such a beautiful way.
