Mam' Winnie forged her politics long before she met Mandela - Sisonke Msimang
Author Sisonke Msimang says Winnie Mandela was a profoundly political person, long before she met her famous ex-husband.
She has called into question the idea that Mam' Winnie's political consciousness was only born when she met Madiba.
Msimang has written her second book, 'The Resurrection of Winnie Mandela', which she describes as a "not-biography".
The author says the book is less about the chronology of Mam' Winnie's life, but more about what her life says about the history of the nation.
She discussed the style of book and Mam' Winnie's complex life in conversation with Eusebius McKaiser.
