Naked Scientist: What is the difference between micro and macro evolution?

Evolution is said to encompass changes of vastly different scales, the two extremes being micro- and macroevolution.

Naked Scientist Chris Smith explains macro the science.

With macro evolution - this is when you take a huge step back and you look at planet earth and you say well 4 and a half billion years ago there was nothing there and then about 4 billion years ago we start to see evidence of microscopic life and then by about 600 million years ago we now have big stuff appearing... so with macro evolution we have got things turning from the simplest things overtime to the biggest things and they are all related.
