People shouldn't be dying from HIV anymore says Dr Michelle Moorhouse (Wits RHI)

Senior Programme Manager at the Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute, Dr Michelle Moorhouse spoke to #WeekendBreakfast host Africa Melane about World Aids Day, and how far we've come to combat the illness.

Dr. Moorhouse says that they've been tough targets to pursue in the quest to eliminate the HIV epidemic.

I've been working in HIV for quite a while and things have definity improved adds Dr. Moorhouse.

She says that it's much easier for patients but adds that they still have challenges.

People shouldn't be dying from HIV anymore... If you start treatment early enough, you should live a normal life expectancy.

Dr. Moorhouse says that in some countries, people living with HIV are actually living longer because they're interacting with the health system frequently.
