Cape Town crowned world's top festival and events spot

Cape Town has been named the "World's Leading Festival and Events Destination" at the 2018 World Travel Awards.

The international awards took place at the Pátio da Galé, in Lisbon, Portugal, over the weekend.

The Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) says the award is an affirmation of the Mother City's world-class status.

SAACI CEO Rudi Vyver says such recognition is key to boosting Cape Town's profile among international visitors.
