[LISTEN] Banyana Banayana coach on team's 'collective effort'

Banyana Banyana have returned to the country after a successful tournament at the Women's African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

They were the runners-up in the competition and have also managed to qualify for the Women's World Cup for the first time ever.

Asked what it is about her style of coaching that has had a positive effect on the team, Head Coach Desiree Ellis says it is a collective effort.

I am just the face of the team. If the team doesn't do well I am in the forefront but it is really a collective effort.

This team never gives up, we have won many a games right at the death and that is the beauty of this team.

Commenting on the lack of funding toward the team, Ellis says she she is hopeful that things will change for women's football.

There is progress but more needs to be done and it will happen in time.

The team will prepare for Sweden in January.
