There needs to be a structural reform in terms of the NPA Act. As it stands, the president remains the sole person that appoints the head of the NPA.

In terms of political interference within the NPA, Dube says the Constitutional Court has done a good a job in scraping the provision in the act which allows the president to suspend the head of the NPA without following due process.

But I think the Constitutional Court has really gone some way in ensuring that there isn't that degree of political interference.

Dube says it is important to get have an NPA boss who not only understands the prosecutorial aspect but understands the managerial one as well.

It should be somebody who is also strong enough to withstand political interference.
