Playwright David Kramer gives us a sneak peek into his new musical 'Langarm'

Legendary singer, songwriter and theatremaker David Kramer says he's excited about the official opening of his new musical, 'Langarm'.

The production set in the context of Cape Town's ballroom dance culture of the 1960s and involves an interracial pair who break the law to dance.

The musical will show at The Fugard Theatre in the Mother City.

It officially opens on Wednesday 5 December and runs until February, Kramer says.

Kramer wrote the original score of songs which have been arranged by musical director Charl-Johan Lingenfelder.

He spoke about the inspiration behind his characters, how he chose his cast members and the style of his latest writing.

The reaction so far has been very strong. We've received nice compliments.
