At least 600 shacks were destroyed in the blaze. The number of people who have been displaced is still unclear but Gift of the Givers and Emergency Services remain on scene to ensure people are receiving relief aid.

Community members say he was involved in a skirmish with a fellow community member, there was a revenge attack from his side last night and that is when he had allegedly set another shack on fire.

She shares how one woman arrived on the scene on Thursday night after having given birth at the Alexandra clinic.

KFC would like to assist the families in whatever way they can.

We want to provide food parcels for the next three months to assist them to get back onto their feet. We will be doing this through one of our biggest beneficiaries, they will be our key point of contact to get these food parcels to the families.
