At least 600 shacks were destroyed in the blaze. The number of people who have been displaced is still unclear but Gift of the Givers and Emergency Services remain on scene to ensure people are receiving relief aid.

Community members say he was involved in a skirmish with a fellow community member, there was a revenge attack from his side last night and that is when he had allegedly set another shack on fire.
