[Watch the latest adverts] Do you agree? Chicken Licken is the boss of Nando’s!
This week, Nicholas Kühne of Wunderbrand critiqued two current television adverts for Nando’s and Chicken Licken.
Kühne loved the one by Chicken Licken and gave it a “hero” rating.
The avert is, according to Kühne, taking a brilliant point of view of the prevailing political attitudes in South Africa, and flips it on its head in a fun and creative way.
It also uses excellent pop culture references and - most importantly - it makes people want to buy Chicken Licken.
Chicken Licken’s use of social media is also excellent, said Kühne.

Kühne gave Nando’s – former heavyweight champion of advertising – a “zero” for its latest ad.
The series of vignettes tries to show our stereotypes and how silly it all is, but it’s a weak attempt compared to the ads of the past, said Kühne.
The power of the Nando's ads have been watered down somewhat, he said.
The ad gets a few chuckles, but it doesn’t have the firepower we’ve come to expect from Nando’s.
