Robert Vogel, CEO of Pedal Power Association, pays tribute to Phillip Le Roux who died after a cycling accident in Hout Bay.

The curator of Cape Town's Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden curator in Cape Town Philip le Roux has died.

Le Roux was left in a coma after a horrific bicycle accident which took place on 2 December on Victoria Road heading into Hout Bay in the Suikerbossie area.

The CEO of Pedal Power Association, Robert Vogel says it was Le Roux who gave the go-ahead to cut a cycling trail off the beaten track through parts of the 528-hectare park so that cyclists could enjoy the scenery.

What I remember about him is that whenever there was an issue he was never upset. He would say, let's try to solve it. He was always seeing the positive.

Robert Vogel, CEO of Pedal Power Association

His attitude was fantastic and he was always so supportive of what we were doing.
