[LISTEN] Aware.org's plans to address the culture of alcoholism in South Africa
CEO of aware.org Ingrid Louw chats about the programmes they've put in place to address the culture of alcoholism in South Africa.
Louw says that they've launched a mass-media education and awareness campaign to address alcohol abuse in the country.
She adds that they've also launched targeted interventions which look at underage and binge drinking.
There was an organisation called the ARA which looked at alcohol harm says Louw.
Nonetheless, the stats were rising so we had to rethink and brainstorm ways to do things differently she says.
Everything we do includes targeted interventions, working with strategic partners and there has to be an element of monitoring and evaluation.Ingrid Louw, CEO of aware.org
Louw says that they won't see impact right now, but hope it will unfold in the long run.
