The City of Cape Town responded to commuter concerns that the MyCiTi bus service is not running optimally, complaining that buses are often behind schedule.
Mayoral Committee member for Transport at City of Cape Town, Felicity Purchase says the bus service is operating at 90% capacity and more drivers will be recruited to replace those that were dismissed.
Meanwhile, the former MyCiti drivers are geared to start protesting demanding the City of Cape Town insource their services.

According to Purchase the model used by MyCiTi was decided nationally in terms of the rapid bus system and the unions were party to it.

She adds unions were part of the agreement reached and to then go against the agreement is problematic.
