Western Cape Saps smear campaign allegations to be thoroughly probed - Winde

MEC for Community Safety in the Western Cape, Alan Winde says allegations made by Colonel Charl Kinnear about certain Saps members will be thoroughly investigated.

Kinnear, the investigating officer into the extortion case against Colin Booysen and other big names in the underworld, lodged a complaint at the Mfuleni police station on Sunday.

He claims that there are elements within the police services misusing state property and resources in a smear campaign against the likes of Lt Gen Peter Jacobs, Maj Gen Jeremy Vearey, Capt Althea Jeftha, Const. CV de Vries as well as himself.

Lots of allegations are made against very senior police officers and we need to make sure that this is done properly.
