Bushiri's church leaders finger 'natural disaster' for members' deaths

After a recent stampede which saw three women being killed while trying to reach shelter after a thunderstorm at the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church, the church held a media briefing to discuss the incidence.

EWN reporter Thando Kubheka attended the briefing and says three leaders representing the church addressed the briefing.

They began by expressing their condolences to the families of the three women that lost their lives during that church service at the Tshwane Events Centre. They said that an investigation is currently underway to establish what happened and to who those responsible to account.

The church has suspended the head of the Pretoria branch while these investigations are underway.

They have described the events of that day as a natural disaster that was simply out of their control.

Thando Kubheka, EWN reporter

Kubheka adds the leadership attributed Pastor Shepherd Bushiri's absence at the briefing to him being out of the country and say that he will return later this month and visit the bereaved families.
