[VIDEO] Drag race ends in horrific crash on Cape Town's N1

A drag race goes horribly wrong on the N1 incoming near the Century City Sable Road offramp.

Mayco member for Safety and Security JP Smith confirms the incident that occurred in the early hours of the morning, and says often the drivers involved in these illegal drag races are intoxicated.

They are often under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Drag racing is a serious problem.

He says that is why dashcam installation is important so that these cases can be effectively prosecuted in court. He says he has been through cases where the driver simply denies any involvement in drag racing and it could not be proven.
