Volunteer group hosts Hout Bay swim to draw attention to ocean pollution

Civic volunteer group Hout Bay Harbour Cleanup will host a swim to raise awareness about ocean pollution on Sunday.

Founder James Wrey explains that volunteers Laura Paarman and Bernie Manzoni will swim across Hout Bay from the Bronze Leopard to Mariner's Wharf.

Wrey says the event aims to encourage the public to do their part in keeping the ocean clean and plastic-free.

The aim is to inspire people to have an open heart to volunteer with any groups that are dealing with ocean pollution.

Capetonians can support and sign up for the cleanup campaign on Sunday 27 January at 8 am at the Mariner's Wharf. Bring water, sunhat, sunscreen and refuse bags.
