App reserves parking spaces for the disabled

Q Systems SA owner Heinrich Williams has developed a unique system designed to improve access to parking for the disabled.

The system and app could put a stop to motorists who are able-bodied drivers from misusing parking spaces reserved for disabled persons.

The innovation will be piloted in Port Elizabeth.

Williams says there has already been international interest in the app. He explains how it works.

The app is just one vehicle to get access to the parking bay.

From the application process right through to the screening board, everybody will apply online and after the application is approved, only then will the person be able to use the app.

As soon as you see the parking bay you would like to park in, you can say I want to park here, put the parking number into your app and the system will recognise that you are in the database and give you access to the parking.
