EFF supporters 'ate out of Malema's palm' during manifesto launch - analyst

The Economic Freedom Fighters launched its election manifesto on Saturday the 2nd of February to a packed stadium in Soshanguve.

The red berets outlined their plans and promises ahead of the 2019 general elections. The commander in chief Julius Malema promised those earning lesser salaries a higher income.

Malema told the receptive crowd that mine workers will earn R12 500 should the EFF come to power.

Speaking to Ray White on the Afternoon drive show, political analyst professor Lesiba Tefo says the gathered audience 'ate out of' Malema's palm.

However, Professor Tefo says the language the EFF use to talk about the new National Director of Prosecutions Shamila Batohi is problematic.

Malema told the parties supporters that he has no trust on Batohi as she is very close to Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.

They should be regretting having made that statement. The other thing I find very regrettable is this polarising language and almost an obsession with Pravin Gordhan.
