AfriForum is gunning for Ford over Reshall Jimmy's death

An inquest into the horrific death of Reshall Jimmy, who died when his Ford Kuga burnt out in 2015, began in the Western Cape High Court.

The Jimmy family is looking for closure and they have asked AfriForum's legal representation to get justice for Reshall.

Advocate Gerrie Nel of AfriForum says if the NPA doesn't prosecute on this matter the lobby group will privately prosecute Ford.

He says Ford need to take responsibility for what happened to Reshall.

We will support the family and eventually make sure that there is a prosecution in this matter.

Gerrie Nel, Advocate - AfriForum

Nel says when it is granted private prosecution it will be asking Ford to take responsibility for the death of Reshall Jimmy.

This has been a very traumatic time for the family and the postponement yesterday wasn't good for them. You prepare yourself for the inquest to start and for you to get closure but there is a postponement.

Gerrie Nel, Advocate - AfriForum

In our negotiations with Ford, they said to us they have deep pockets and they will litigate. An attitude like that is the reason why we get involved to make sure that there is justice.
