ANC to appeal judgment on ANC North West PEC

The African Nation Congress will be appealing the decision by the South Gauteng High Court to reinstate the North West provincial executive committee.

The court said the decision by the NEC to disband the North West PEC was procedurally unfair, a breach of the party’s constitution and in violation of the applicants' Section 19 constitutional rights.

Xolani Gwala spoke to the acting spokesperson of the ANC Zizi Kodwa to find out the next step.

The ANC NEC in our view has taken the correct decision. That's why we make a point that we will be appealing the judgment in its entirety.

Zizi Kodwa, Acting ANC spokesperson

We note and we will study the judgment in its full context and its implications.

Zizi Kodwa, Acting ANC spokesperson

We need to understand it in relation to the constitution of the ANC but at the same time, we don't want the organisational internal process to absorb us and assimilate everything and undermine the fact that we are running elections.

Zizi Kodwa, Acting ANC spokesperson

Elections are not just members of the ANC, we must make sure we retain the North West overwhelmingly as the ANC.
