[LISTEN] Elections date gives Parliament time to finish its work - Vukani Mde

Political analyst Vukani Mde says the set date for this year's elections gives the current parliament time to finish its work.

During his State of the Nation Aaddress on Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that elections will be held on 8 May.

Mde says there is a lot of legislation that needs to be promulgated and finished.

There is a lot of legislation, some of which he mentioned in his speech that needs to be carried through, particularly legislation that has to do with the economy. There is about three months to go for that legislation to happen, there is also time for the opposition parties to grapple with is record in office and have something to campaign on.
