The City of Cape Town has responded to complaints about the daunting process of registering Solar PV systems.

The City of Cape Town has responded to complaints about the daunting process of registering Solar PV systems as required by the City.

Mary Haw, Manager of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the City of Cape Town says the registration goes further than just being on the data but includes all the technical details.

While we empathise, we can't reduce the rigour of the technical information but we are doing all we can to make the registration process much easier.

We are spending a bit of time with our technical experts to try and make the forms a little easier.

Haw says having PV systems that are not authorised and registered will endanger the entire grid network.

It is law that you need to have all generation equipment authorised and registered by the City.

The initial deadline to be registered by was the end of this month but this has since been moved until the end of May 2019.
