The president should get rid of Eskom's board and management - caller

Eskom has implemented stage 3 load shedding on Tuesday morning until 11pm tonight.

The parastatal says that its board will launch an in-depth audit to ensure all technical problems are understood to prevent a crisis as seen on Monday when six units that generate power unexpectedly went offline.

However, Eskom CEO Phakamani Hadebe says that an in-depth audit will take about three months to finally establish what needs to be done to solve the country's power crisis.

CapeTalk/702 listeners weighed in the issue asking what has Eskom been doing all this time when they'll only be doing an audit when the damage is already done.

If criminal networks start using the load shedding, which is advertised as a means to orchestrate their attacks, I am seeing the load shedding as a threat to our security.

Jerry, Caller

I find it extraordinary that the CEO of Eskom is talking about an in-depth audit that is going to take three months for them to determine what the problem are. You wonder what they've been doing for the past, I wonder how long ...

Peter, Caller

They don't know what they are doing and they don't know what is going on, that seems to be the situation.

Peter, Caller

It is clear that the president does not know what is going on, he is shocked. It turns out that the board does not know what is happening and it is clear that the minister doesn't know what is going. The management is only talking now of an audit to find out what is wrong. All the president needs to do is to get rid of the board...

Themba, Caller

The reality is we are having load shedding and we are going to have it again even with the unbundling, nothing is going to change.
