Capetonian Tony Rozemeyer has described witnessing a young woman being viciously attacked on Muizenberg Main Road last week.
The Lakeside resident says very few motorists offered to help the traumatised victim, despite the peak traffic.
I heard a woman screaming for at least 10 seconds. I ran out to the front gate and the lady was lying in the gutter.— Tony Rozemeyer, CapeTalk listener
She was being kicked and punched by a rather tall guy who accosted her. I'm not sure if he stole anything.— Tony Rozemeyer, CapeTalk listener
After hearing her screams, Tony says he ran across the street to help. The perpetrator fled the scene.
One motorist eventually stopped to help the distressed woman.
Tony and a second motorist that stopped at the roadside went to look for the perpetrator.
They tracked down the assailant and took him to the police station. However, Tony says the police found that the man was "mentally disturbed".
Tony says he doesn't know what happened to the woman who was assaulted after the ordeal.
