The price of electricity has a massive impact on the cost of producing food.

If load shedding goes on for much longer, and if there is no security of electricity supply in the longer term, then the cost of producing food will skyrocket, says Paul Makube, Senior Agricultural Economist at FNB Agri-Business.

Obviously, those costs will be passed onto the consumer.
