There have been mixed reactions to the Cell C dog advert – the one that sees a small dog “taking advantage” of the protagonist's leg at every opportunity.
Many have been outraged by it while others think it’s hilarious, as it is seen as a metaphor for how we as consumers feel we’re being treated, especially when we pay for services not rendered.
However some viewers have asked whether Cell C is being hypocritical – whether they themselves can deliver anything different or superior to that of their competitors.
Jonathan Cherry says the advert does put across a good point, but it's not telling the consumer what service it is offering and it is akin to Cell C taking a knife to a gunfight.
