Cosatu says it is tired of the ruling party disrespecting the alliance

The nationwide strike by Cosatu is currently underway at the Provincial Legislature in Johannesburg.

The trade union federation is protesting against job losses and retrenchments in the country,

EWN reporter Bonga Dlulane says the union says it is tired of the ruling party disrespecting them as an alliance partner adding it is never consulted on the issue of jobs and restructuring in the public sector.

It wants to ensure that if the Eskom unbundling does happen, it won't affect workers.

Cosatu leadership are saying that from here they are going to the Chamber of Mines offices to hand over a memorandum to say that they are tired of job losses.

Dlulane says the JMPD and Saps are present to ensure the necessary roads are closed to motorists in order for protesters to make their way swiftly through the CBD.
