McBride's testimony could implicate MPs in state capture

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) boss Robert McBride's testimony at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture was postponed on Thursday to allow those the commission sufficient time to notify those implicated.

McBride is expected to implicate at least 30 high profile individuals in state capture.

Mail and Guardian desk editor Athandiwe Saba says McBride could reveal names of some Members of Parliament allegedly involved in the compromising of the justice system.

Very interesting names here and we think he is going to drop some names of Members of Parliament that he says have interfered with the works of Ipid.

McBride will be focusing on is six particular people within the NPA, one being Shaun Abrahams, who allegedly refused to prosecute cases Ipid was investigating, says Saba.

He says Ipid had sufficient information for those cases to be prosecuted but still those advocates refused to prosecute certain individuals who were instrumental in capturing the state.

McBride's testimony will implicate the former Ipid head Isaac Kgamanyane and former police minister Nathi Nhleko and law firm Hogan Lovells and Vaksman.

It is still not clear when McBride will testify.
