Limpopo teens due to appear in court on Thursday for Thoriso Themane’s murder
Five high school pupils in Limpopo are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates' Court on Thursday in connection with the killing of Thoriso Themane.
The learners - aged between 15 and 16-years-old - are facing a charge of murder after Themane’s killing was captured on video, reports EWN's Thando Kubheka.
The 27-year-old college student was killed in a suspected mob attack in Polokwane on Saturday and his body was found dumped in Flora Park.
Video footage of the incident circulated online this week, sparking outrage and calls for justice.
In the video, Themane can be seen being assaulted and dragged by a group of pupils from Capricorn High School.
The teens were arrested on Tuesday.
Themane’s father told CapeTalk and 702 that his son was a loving man who was fond of music and helping people.
While police say the motive of the murder is unknown, some reports have speculated on the reasons behind the attack.
The reports say that the mob of teenagers were accusing him of stealing a cellphone, but this has not yet been verified.Thando Kubheka, EWN reporter
Meanwhile, National police commissioner Khehla Sitole has come out to condemn the fatal attack.
