Motorists can expect to pay 74 cents more for petrol from Wednesday

From Wednesday, South African motorists can expect to pay 74 cents more for a litre of petrol and between 91 and 93 cents for a litre of diesel.

Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe made the fuel price announcement on Monday.

International crude prices were the main reasons for the fuel hikes, Radebe added.

The spokesperson at Automobile Association Layton Beard says when one looks at the analysis and breakdown, one can see that international and petroleum prices have rocketed.

It is certainly because of that, that we are seeing this increase on Wednesday and the rand to US dollar exchange rate didn't help.
