SABC board member delays a 'deliberate chaotic situation driven by factions'
Parliament’s portfolio committee on communications on Tuesday started the process to appoint eight full board members at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
National co-coordinator at the SOS Coalition, Duduetsang Makuse says there should have been a complete SABC board by this stage and the entire interview process should have been finalised.
We have just completed the first day of interviews and we have two more days of interviews to go through.Duduetsang Makuse, National co-coordinator - SOS Coalition
Thereafter, two more steps of the interview process would have to be completed before the SABC can have a correct board.Duduetsang Makuse, National co-coordinator - SOS Coalition
She adds that MPs need to have finalised this recruitment process before Parliament closes for recess on 20 March.
It is definitely a race against the clock, but this is a deliberate chaotic situation that we are in because there has been factional and inter-party politics that have driven this delay.Duduetsang Makuse, National co-coordinator - SOS Coalition
