Former Stellies student affairs deputy head charged with fraud

The Hawks have swooped on a prominent former Stellenbosch University employee accused of defrauding it of millions.

He was the deputy head of student affairs and has been summoned to appear in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crimes Court appear on 18 March on charges of fraud and money laundering

The suspect has not yet appeared in court so his name is withheld.

Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase talks to Kieno Kammies.

The value of the crime is estimated at around R35 million.

He says the investigation continues and others face arrest.

After the first court appearance, Nkwalase says a full statement will be released.
