New trade union that will focus on gender equality

A new trade union has launched in South Africa that focuses specifically on Gender Equality issues in the workplace called Flair SA.

This trade union was founded by individuals who understand the challenges many people face in the workplace today; including gender-based discrimination.

This organisation will provide support with all labour related matters, including employment contract review, grievances, unfair labour practices and unfair dismissal.

Speaking on the Eusebius McKaiser show, entrepreneur and co-founder of Flair SA Paballo Sambo said, when we get to the workplace, we all want to be professionals. So the aim of the organisation, whether you are a male or female, is to grant people the professional respect they deserve in the workplace.

We are targeting professionals that believe in equality. We want to engage, we want to have a constructive conversation with the employer. Anyone who is concerned about their career progression, we say to them, come on board and we will take you through your journey and we will guide you though it.

What we are trying to do as a union is to get a seat at a table to be able to engage with the employers and at an early stage before things end up at the CCMA labour court and hopefully through mediation we can reach an agreement.

Adv Ronel de Jager, Labour law expert and co-founder - Flair SA

Flair SA was launched late 2018 and it will be launched this week Friday, March 08.
