Boeings grounded, as search continues for Ethiopian Airline black box

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it grounded all Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft following a crash that killed 157 people on board on Sunday.

The aircraft crashed shortly after take-off from Addis Ababa, killing all on board.

Elias Meseret, AP correspondent in Addis Ababa says relatives of the deceased have taken to social media to express their loss.

A lot of relatives are coming out talking about their loved ones. Also, the 19 United Nations staff workers who were on their way to Kenya for a meeting scheduled for Monday.

Ethiopian Airlines is the most profitable and largest aviation group in Africa. The last plane crash was in 2010 where about 90 people lost their lives.

Every aviation analyst will tell that the safety of the airline is unquestionable. It is one of the safest airlines.

Meseret says the suspicions is now directed to the manufacturers of the Boeing 737.

China has also announced that it has grounded the Boeing 737 Max 8 until further investigations are conducted.

This is the second crash of the Boeing 737 in four months, says Meseret.

Police have secured the location where the crash took place and journalist are currently not allowed to take photographs. The search for the black box is continuing.

I am told by the chief operating officer of Ethiopian Airlines that they have not yet secured the black box but they are hopeful that it will be secured today.
