#TalkingSex: 'I think that penises are going to be easily replaced'

Vibrators are proven to be the most effective means for women to achieve an orgasm, according to clinical sexologist Dr Eve. She says however there is a patriarchal belief that a man has to be the one to give his partner an orgasm.

In this week's #TalkingSex feature, Dr Eve unpacks some of the conservative sexual attitudes that interfere with a women's pleasure and why sex toys are a healthy part of your sexual life.

My sadness is led by the fact that female identified people are afraid to talk to people about what they really want in bed. The vibrator has become more than just a trend but almost like a companion in bed that women are turning to for sexual satisfaction, which takes us into the whole technology age and the future of sex.

I think that penises are going to be easily replaced, not men, but the penises they are invested in need to be used a little more differently and a little more sensitively. What I hear in my therapy is that the time women are most interested in being sexual is when they want to fall pregnant, then the penis is in demand.

I don't want to be slating men's penises, it is just about how do we use them in addition to other things as well.

She breaks down some of the controversies around vibrators like the worry that vibrators may make men feel emasculated.

She also explains the concept of 'dead vagina syndrome' - the idea that overuse of a vibrator is gong to lad women to have a more desensitised clitoral area and that it is going to impact women's responses.

Caller, Trish says she has been using vibrators for the last ten years and the first time she used it, she reached an orgasm in ten seconds. She says it now takes her almost thirty minutes to reach an orgasm.

What I did is I stopped using the vibrator and I found after three weeks, just using my fingers, I was able to reach orgasms again and I was able to respond to my partner.

Dr Eve suggests women use different forms of stimulation. She also suggests different kinds of vibrators.

I have got my absolutely most favorite thing at the moment the vacuum pump that is called Air Technology.
