South Africa is leadership bankrupt, says Bonang Mohale

South Africa is suffering from leadership bankruptcy, says the CEO of Business Leadership SA (BLSA), Bonang Mohale.

Mohale, the author of Lift As You Rise, has called out black leaders in the country who use their blackness for selfish gains.

He says the revelations of state capture should force South Africans to rethink how they choose their leaders.

Mohale says South Africa should not tolerate black business leadership that collaborates with corrupt elements in the state and private sector.

He stresses that plundering state owned enterprises in the name of "redistribution" cannot be accepted.

Mohale adds that the country has slid backwards in the past 20 years without improving the quality of lives for the majority of black South Africans.

Meanwhile, he argues that white oppressors and billionaires have been replaced with black ones.

Such was the impunity of people who were entruted with posistion pf respobisbility, that they could embark of industrial-scale looting whilst giving us an impression that they were respresting us.

Our struggle has always been about how we lift the bottom half into the middle class, not how we make the four elites into mega billionaires.

Bonang Mohale, CEO of Business Leadership SA

In last 25 years of democracy, we have replaced white oppressors with black oppressors. We have replaced white masters with black masters. We've replaced white billionaires with black billionaires and we think it's okay.

Bonang Mohale, CEO of Business Leadership SA

We are so leadership bankrupt that those people who have been found guilty by a court of law, are still on the ANC lists.
