Mpumalanga-born Vutshila Mathebula is the first to graduate from a new drone pilot training programme dedicated to women.
Drone pilot training company UAV Industries launched the special course on Women's Day last year to help narrow the gender discrepancy in the industry.
Mathebula has now received her remote pilot licence from the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
After completing Matric in 2014, Vutshila attended Sun Quest Aviation where she obtained her private pilot licence.
She says she's preparing herself for the future direction of the aviation industry with her drone pilot skills.
The 22-year-old is also studying a BCom degree in Aviation Management in order to become more well-rounded.
She describes her journey, the advantages of drone technology and what inspires her passion for aviation.
